After a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, the lease with Girlguiding London South West is now in place.  This gives Girlguiding Surrey East the security of knowing that we can re-build Faurefold and stay for as long as we keep paying the rent.  Girlguiding London South West are delighted that we are looking after the place.
Three estimates for the new building have been received all approximately £400,000.  But this will rise with inflation so the faster we raise the money the better.
So far we have raised £22,000.  Bricks raised £4,200 which will be increased by Gift Aid.  Bookham and Effingham District raised most. Keep selling bricks please.  And do sign up for easyfundraising at www.easyfundraising.org.uk .  We have just had our second cheque from them – £45 for no effort.
There have been some great fundraisers over the summer including fetes, bring and buy sales, garden parties, tombolas and flower sales.  Marshalling at Denbies on the Bacchus Marathon brought in £420 and was great fun.  And lots of Trefoil members were there as well, raising funds for various causes.
There are a number of fundraisers this autumn.
  • Musigals at Dorking Halls is on 2 November. Two performances where the musical talents of Surrey East’s girls will be on show.  Tickets on sale from the Dorking Halls Box Office by phone or online.
  • Calendars are now on sale showing Surrey East having lots of fun – £5 with 10% of sale being retained by the unit. Talk to your District Commissioner or contact George Ede
  • And on December 7th there will be a Guide and Brownie Christmas Craft day. Details will be sent out via District Commissioners.
And if anyone would like to help organise a Spanish Evening, I have had the offer of some Spanish dancers and players. So we just need the organising.
Bookings
Special offer  – 25% reduction on costs for District, Division & County events booked for between now and next April.
Grass looks good on the new terraces.  There are a few bald patches that did not survive the summer’s heat but September is a good time to reseed.  The wild flower meadow looks very colourful.
Inside we have 28 new mattresses on the bunk beds and two new Leaders’ beds are on order.  Surrey East Trefoil Walkers repainted the bathroom when they came in June. Another working day will be held in November.
